Lasting Partnerships:
Avenues to Independence
Since 1953, Avenues to Independence has been helping adults with developmental disabilities live and work in and around the Park Ridge community and, since 2010, HPS has been an active partner in their mission. HPS was initially engaged as a consulting partner when Avenues launched the Campaign for Independence. The HPS team worked closely with staff and volunteer leadership to successfully complete the campaign, ultimately exceeding the $3.8M goal by over 35%.
By this time, the organization was ready to develop and execute their next strategic plan. While previous plans had been completed without outside assistance, Avenues decided to retain the team from HPS to lead and facilitate this process. Under guidance from HPS, the strategic planning process resulted in a user-friendly road map for the staff and board and one that will help ensure Avenues will continue to be a part of the community for decades to come.
For the past six years, the partnership has continued to thrive with HPS providing strategic counsel to the Avenues’ team. HPS and Avenues staff meet weekly to develop both long and short-term strategies to support and enhance the organization’s development operation.
